The History: 1979 - 2016

1979 - 2016

On November 19th, 1979, Capricorn Records opened its doors for the very first time.

Things quickly expanded, builders came rolling in to the Warrnambool store, walls were knocked down and a space was created to accommodate the ever-increasing range of vinyl.
Hard work and a love of music saw our brand continue to grow, opening stores in Geelong and Ballarat. For more than a decade we became the largest independent music store in regional Victoria, winning 5 ARIAS for ‘Best Independent Music Store in Victoria’.

Capricorn Records may have closed the doors to its stores in 2014, though after much anticipation it is back and ready for the next chapter: Capricorn Records online.

WIth 1,000's of second-hand vinyl and crates full of talented local artists we have LP's, 7" singles and 10" EP's. No matter your taste, from Rock 'n' Roll to hip-hop, blues and jazz we are stocking every genre for those passionate vinyl lover.

The Capricorn Records story continues…
